Due to the urgent nature of this message, I am posting a few hours early.
My Project 365: A Dog A Day
I will select a dog a day to share here.
A dog that is sheltered or fostered in the continental US.
A dog that needs a loving home.
A dog that wants a second chance.
***ATTENTION*** SIMBA/DONATELLA (ID# 919261) is on TONIGHT’S (1/4/12) euthanasia list & will be put down TOMORROW MORNING (1/5/12) if not adopted*** How unbelievably heartbreaking to see this poor boy back at the shelter and back on the euthanasia list. He was recently adopted and then quickly returned (less than one week), as the adopter indicated that he “had no time to train” the pup. HE IS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD…! Please help SIMBA (renamed DONATELLA) to live. He should not die simply because humans gave up on him. NOTE: SIMBA/DONATELLA is not available for direct adoption from the shelter; meaning, you’ll need a rescue group to facilitate the adoption. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting him please let us know ASAP so that we may help you to connect you with rescue groups that can facilitate the adoption. Please e-mail Brooke@BruisedNotBroken.com. Located at the Manhattan Animal Care & Control in NYC. PLEASE SHARE! Thank you. Shelter info below.
STATUS: AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT MANHATTAN AC&C

A Volunteer Writes: “Now, where should this pup be? In a cage, in a shelter or running in the grass and waiting for his first snow? You know the answer…..So, come and get this super delicious youngster with puzzled eyes and big paws. Simba is a gorgeous orange pumpkin, a little too thin for his size but with a beautiful coat. Simba walks very nicely on the leash. He got quite a good comments from passer bys amazed at his good behavior and housetraining skills. Indeed, Simba is a good puppy who by the way, aced his behavioral evaluation. Simba is playful, runs after the ball and releases it in my hand. He is very friendly and as the still needy puppy he is, loves to cuddle on my lap for hugs and kisses. Simba is a little jewel. He is at the Manhattan shelter, dreaming of and hoping to leave very soon with his forever family.”
This dog is located at the Manhattan AC&C (326 E 110th Street, NYC 10029). Please act quickly and GO DIRECTLY TO THE SHELTER to adopt (open 7 days per week from 8AM-7PM, adoptions opens at noon). If the dog is on the euthanasia list, you must CALL THE SHELTER to let them know that you are coming (212-722-4939 keep hitting 0 until someone picks up. Do not leave a message when the recording picks up — keep hitting 0 until your hear a voice!). If you absolutely cannot get to the shelter, please contact participating rescue groups to see if they can assist you: http://www.animalalliancenyc.org/about/apos/atoz.htm.
On behalf of the dog before you, THANK YOU!
