Meet Sam!! A14993574

3-5 years old

43 pounds

A volunteer says: She is a very sweet girl who is just a little shy. It takes a little time for her to warm up to new people, but once she does, she is quite a loveable gal! She really enjoys being pet. In fact, she solicits it! She will come up to you, give you a look with her big brown eyes, lean into you, and give you a nudge with her cute little nose.

Sam is a smart girl who already knows some basic commands and is starting to learn some more. She knows “sit” and “come” and is working on “lie down”. She picks up new things quickly and seems to like figuring things out. She would probably really enjoy a game like “hide and seek”!

Sam is nervous when she meets new dogs, as she is with people, but begins to warm up once she gets comfortable. Even though she’s likes to take her time getting to know other dogs, she seems to really want to make new friends. She is very interested in saying hello to new dogs when she sees them, big and small! She also might be able to live with cats but let us know if you have any cats and we can test her again before she goes home with one.

Sam is currently part of the Pen Pal program. Pen pals are paired with volunteers who work with her on training and socialization and help make the shelter experience not so stressful. They will also help with any questions her adopters may have after they bring her home. She recently went out on an adventure with her Pen Pals to the park! She wasn’t sure about getting into the car at first but she soon realized she was in for a good time! She curled up happily beside her pal and enjoyed the ride. When they got to the park, she was so curious about everything! She sniffed & sniffed all the new smells. She even got to see some other dogs, cows in the pasture, and people riding horses! There were people riding bicycles and running past her but that didn’t really bother her, she was much more interested in all the new smells and sights. When the walk was over, she happily jumped into the backseat of the car and curled back up next to her friend.

This girl is really looking for a family that she can be a total love bug with! She will also be there to entertain and play and make you laugh. Are you interested in giving her the home she’s always dreamed of? Contact her Pen Pals at for more information, or better yet, bring the whole family down to the shelter to meet her today! Remember, give her a few moments to warm up to you and get ready for some lovin’.
