I'm repeating due to the age of the pup and severity of her need
Day 53
My Project 365: A Dog A Day
I will select a dog a day to share here.
A dog that is sheltered or fostered in the continental US.
A dog that needs a loving home.
A dog that wants a second chance.
Diamond
I contacted Ashley from the ARL about the cost of Diamond’s surgery. Here is her reply:
We have a fund set up for animals like Diamond who require immediate medical attention. So far this year we have received 4 dogs with broken legs, all of them requiring expensive corrective surgery. Two of them, we have rehabilitated and found loving homes for. However, their surgeries were expensive; both combined totaling about $4,000. Normally, we do not receive this many cases in such a short time, and as a result, our Noel Fund is depleted. Diamond and Olivia, are two puppies we have right now that require surgery due to broken legs. Olivia had her surgery yesterday which will cost a little over $1,000, and Diamond is on a two week immobilization period to see if her leg will heal naturally due to her age. If after 2 weeks, it does not, she will require a surgery ranging from $1,000-$3,000 depending on the break and how many plates/screws she needs. Anything you can donate would be a great help.
There are two ways to donate: Make an online donation at: https://berksarl.org/DonateOnLine.aspx , or you can mail a check to:
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County PO Box 69 Mohnton, PA 19540 Attn: Ashley Mikulsky (In the memo please write Noel Fund or Diamond) ~~~~~~This is Diamond. She is a 6-week-old puppy who had a housetraining accident and as “punishment,” had her shoulder and arm broken with a pliers. She is now at the ARL. The vet is hoping to be able to save the arm by keeping it wrapped and immobilized. But if that does not work, she will either need very expensive surgery to implant screws and plates. Or the arm may have to be amputated.
The ARL’s Noel Fund is depleted with all of these emergencies. If you can spare a little bit, please help. Thank you!
Please contact the ARL’s Development Director, Ashley Mikulsky about donating or sponsoring for Diamond’s vet care at amikulsky@berksarl.org or call 610-373-8830 ext 117 to discuss options on how to go about doing this. Any questions or concerns regarding your donations can be addressed to her. Thank you so much for all your support!

Oh my goodness. How terrible! I cannot believe someone would do that to a poor puppy. =[
People are cruel. I hope her leg can be saved.
It breaks my heart that anyone could have so much hate in their hearts.
Oh, baby. 😦
